Just curious...

One of my blue girls has 4 toes on each foot.

The other has 5 toes on each foot, two of them fused together except for the tip where the claws are (each foot is the same).

Is she deformed??

Is there a possibility that my pullet was crossed with a silkie at one point?

Are there any other breeds besides the silkie that has 5 toes instead of 4?

Or is this just a freak genetic mutation?

Here she is a few days ago, tall and curious... first time touching grass.

there are a lot of breeds that have 5 toes. but the color of the legs should be able to help you some.

i have salmon favs and houdans that have 5 toes. sultans and dorkings do too.

They should be Yellow (Female can have Dusty Yellow but Yellow is preferred)..

*Dusyt: Refers to a shading of black pigment in the epidermis over yellow pigment in yhe dermis as in dusty yellow shanks (legs)... *

She doesn't look like a silkie cross. Potentially a dorking, but why someone would outcross to dorking with their cochin is beyond me. She appears to have white skin, cochin have yellow skin, and as others have said, yellow legs.

I would contact the breeder. Perhaps s/he didn't realize the birds got mixed at some point?
