How many years have you been raising chicks?

I started in March of 2021, with 5 chickens, and ended up getting rid of them and establishing a new "show flock". Then started raising ducks as of 2 weeks ago!

First chicks were white rocks from M McMurry about in 1958.... I'm now the age of my grandfather that bought them for me.

This yr started with a flock of 31 barred rocks and 2 accidental Asian blacks.

I've been raising chicks since I began with geese in 1974 when I was 10, progressed to parakeets, then chickens, I still have almost 100 chickens now.

My niece has had hens for several yrs and in 2020 I decided I want a couple silkies as pets.

Well my family started giving me their hens and now I am up to some horrible number like 22 what with chicks this year!

If I had known how much fun chickens were I would have got rid of my horses years ago and got chickens!!!

My last chicken event was in 1955, I was 9 years old. I had 4 hens. My grandmother on the other hand had about 100 as her and grandpa raised chickens and turkeys for a living in "the day". I was about 7 at that time.
