Hi! I was thinking about next spring when I start hatching eggs for swap meets and Facebook selling but how much can I sell them for? My rooster is a gorgeous blue silkie, super super friendly and good at protecting, then my hens are mostly mixes, I have two EEs, one black sex-link, one cinnamon queen, one black copper maran (don’t know if I’ll get eggs from her though), a cream legbar EE, a lavender Orpington silver laced(no laces, fully black), a lavender Orpington Ameraucana(also fully black with fluffy cheeks) two silkie hens, a blue sapphire gem, a mix between my old barred mix roo and my cinnamon queen hen(she’s orange with white under feather and a few black rimmed feathers) A praire Bluebell and a Pavlovskaya… how much do you guys think I can make off them? How much should I sell per breed?
At what age could I sell them for the most? What are the different prices for the ages?

Join the movement. Free chickens for evryone.
Is that becoming a thing?
I mean maybe I’d do a thing where the breeds I spent the most on (40$ for my three silkies 25$ for my Pavlovskaya) and I’d pick a certain few of those and those few would be free, but I don’t think I’d give away my prairies, silkies and Pavlovskaya chicks, the others I might be able to? I do need the money for their food (we buy the corn and soy free) so it’s a struggle to decide 😂

I’d sell them for $30-40AU (I think about $20-25USD) each, but it normally depends on what people are willing to pay.

Swap and meets here generally have high prices because people there like to negotiate, like my 2-year old black copper maran was 15$ even though I thjnk she’s not going to lay, I sold a rooster and a hen for 35$, both a year old, then a cockerel and a pullet for 30$(one was a barred lavender and the other was a black with red bars so I raised the price a bit) rabbits I sell for like 5$ each but that’s because so many professional breeders are there, maybe I’ll up the price for them once I get a purebred Flemish female for my Flemish dwarf mix

Nah, I just made that up. But, if you gave a few away the movement would gain traction and might take off.
Hmmm then I guess I’ll have my CQ mixes free and a few other, I think it will mainly depend on the buyer for me, I really want my chickens to go to a good home where they will not be used as meat chickens.
Let’s see if the movement will work! Though I don’t know how far it’d spread from a small part of Alaska 😅
