I also buy 50 pound bags and feed 60+ chickens I would like to know where to buy bulk

Corn and soybeans are the main ingredients in chicken feed (commercial). These commodities have soared the last year or two and thus, feed must follow.
My chickens are indeed a hobby, but serve a vital purpose for food and litter for our organic market gardens. I price eggs t compensate for rising feed costs. If our customer base wouldn't support it, for some reason, I'd reduce the flock size. While I love the hens and all they do for us, I cannot subsidize them.

We paid 132.00 for this weeks feed. I have 110 chickens, 12 turkeys,30 ducks and 7 geese. We buy 2 bags of layer and 2 bags of grower and a small bag of boss and a bag of wild bird feed and a bag of scratch.We mix 10 % scratch in the feed, some grit,and I mix the boss and wild bird food together as a treat. We also free choice with oyster but did not need it this week.
We need to butcher more before winter lol....I wouldn't want to see what that would cost with all these "extras" around!!

11 chickens, $16.99 for Layena crumbles, I think it lasts me about 3 weeks, but they free range all day, nearly every day.

Anyone who uses Purina, If you sign up on their website, there are coupons to be had every month. AND I am pretty sure they can be printed twice. Try it. What have you got to lose???

I prefer the little mom and pop feed store just 10 minutes from my house. They have their own mill in SE Oklahoma. The feed is always super fresh. I love the smell of it.

thanks for the update....what a hardship this summer has been in your part of the country, well, all around the country. It seems that there are a lucky few that have had a 'normal' summer. I hope it rains soon down there for all you folks.

Mine runs 120.00 a month just on Chicken Feed.
Highlander answer a question for me. We call ourselves Scots Irish. What does that really mean. I've never thought about it till now.
