How much did your coop cost?

Just for fun! I am wondering, how much did you coop cost? And post pics if you have them!

I bought this coop for $424 including shipping...

And did you build your coop or did you buy it pre-made?

Roughly $250-300. The fully insulated coop is 12x5x8 and the run is 22x5x5 for our 8 girls. I'll take some pics tomorrow. We have our coop in our garage, which is very nice due to being 100% predator proof. We are not quite finished. We have to finish the insulation and adjust the shading in the run.

dont have any pics but when i worked in the oilfield of wyoming i was given a 12 x 12 building say 10 ft tall at the peak been on my property for about 6 years then the wife said she wanted chickens so finaly i knew what i was gona do with it
maybe $50 in fencing plus what i had laying around the place and instant chicken coop and run
run is about 45 x 45

That's a neat little coop, perfect for your smaller end flock, your buffs are going to be happy.

As far as my coop goes, from my best guess I paid around 130 dollars. The coop/run combo is 6 feet wide, 6 feet tall, 18 feet long. First time building anything really, so it was a bit of a learning experience at the same time. A lot of the materials were recycled, I'd say probably close to 80% or better. The only real expensive parts were the rolls of chicken wire and I think it was something ridiculous like 38 dollars for a can of paint. This pic is old, the coop is painted, has a tarp over it and is completely predator-proofed now. I made the mistake of not building a big enough coop, I just drafted plans for my new coop last night, it should fit around 35 or 40 chickens when it's done but I expect it will probably cost me 300-400 dollars. I don't think there's an hour that goes by where I'm not thinking about ideas on building it. I'm sure you guys will see it when I'm done.

I might use this coop as a breeding coop, if I decide I want to ever pick a certain breed to produce myself. I'm a bit sweet on buff orpingtons at the moment but I've always wanted to try a rare or unique breed. Also was thinking maybe I'll use this coop for a couple turkeys. Who knows.

5Chickens, I was looking at buying that coop for my mom. Do you let your chickens free range at all or are they always in there? I would like to get a small coop/run for 2 orpingtons but they will never be able to free range because of predators and my moms limited physical mobility to catch them if necessary. They have enormous hawks, owls, stray dogs, snakes.. you name it, I've seen it. So we want them to be safe but have plenty of room to "live in". Do you think this coop/run is big enough?

I built my coop out of stuff I had saved because I 'might need it someday!" Truck topper for a roof, 5ftX6ft, 4x4 posts at each corner, neighbor's used 1x2 welded wire fencing, salvaged 2x4 boards for bracing and doors, hinges taken off old found doors, etc. I'm quite handy, and always been a recycler. The first money I spent was about $15 for the 20inch x 10ft metal flashing for the 'poop slide'. That was quite a bargain, as I just have to hose it off into a bucket. I also built the enclosed run, put it under a mango tree and lots of Lady Palms using the neighbor's used fencing. I don't think I spent a total of $50.00 on it. It's a very airy open Florida coop. Hurricane proof! (I hope)
