How much did YOUR first egg cost?

It was at least a $1000 egg. But the joy of finding that first egg in the nest box was absolutely priceless!

I was lucky to get the housing for free/cheap, but I will be building them a new coop this October that will probably run me 300-350 bucks.

I am excited for that first egg and bet it will taste like a million bucks!

Of course if we subtract what we would have paid in therapy that we got free from the chickens the numbers might go lower hehehe

Close to $1,000 atleast, Coop materials, chickies, food, waterer's, supplies for a brooder, then I got the itch and had to get an incubator. Then hatching eggs & shipping.

But I looooove them, and that is priceless!

$78.
we already had the 10x10 kennel, and chicken wire we used for another project. so basically, i spent $60 on my first 5 pullets, $6 on a bag of shavings, $12 on a bag of feed:) my mom gave me the feeder/waterer from her stash of chicken gear, they layed in a big dog house until my husband had time to build laying boxes a few weeks later:)
