how much do adult chickens eat ?

I just ordered 20 easter eggers, 5 turkens, 14 frizzles, and 15 silkies from mcmurray....
My husband is asking how much (as adults) will each chicken eat?
Our layer is $12 here, up to $14 for the most expensive per 50 lbs

Estimates that I have always seen are 1/4-1/3 lb. per day for layers & 1/2 that amount for bantams. That would come out to 1.75-2.3 lbs per bird per week. Chickens always seem to eat more than people imagine. They are not cheap to feed. It changes by the season with them eating more in the winter of course than summer. It changes if they free range versus not free ranging. I have heavy layers confined in a run & I don't see them eating the 1/3lb per day usually, but in the winter they do.
