How much do chickens eat?

is there a ratio to how much a chicken weighs and its food intake? like a 5 pound chicken eats 2 pounds of food a day ?

The average chicken eats 4 ounces of food per day, as in 1/4 pound.

Well, thats the textbook answer...

The reality is that much depends on available forage, the breed and other feeding factors.

But that gives you a good place to start. I'd go with that and then highball it by adding 15%, until you have a little bit of data to work with in your own flock.
