Depends on supply and demand in your area. When I sold them - $2 for day-old chicks, $6 for adults. People were lighting up my inbox every time I listed them on CL.
I have never charged less than $3 per chick from 1-3 weeks old. Then a dollar a week after that and 5-6 for adult hens depending on who I'm selling to and how nice the birds are. Roos are deal sweeteners or $4 for meat.
I can't seem to keep enough hatched in this niche market. Hard to maintain a flock of layers. But then again I'm not using a sportsman.
i'm from Arlington, WA. I tried several posters in Seattle CL, selling newly hatched quails for $2, $3, $5, $7 a piece but can't get hold of them as they are paid for way in advance even before they hatch.
hence i made an incubator based on specs here at BYC and got eggs from another BYC'r and looking forward to the results of my hatching test case next week.
