how much do you charge for your eggs?

I'm in N. IL. and I sell them to my daughter's school teachers for $2 a dozen...$2.50 for 18.

The teachers supply me with cartons and I fill em up and bring em to school before the week is out...when i pick up my daughter.

I sell about 3-4 dozen a week and give my mom a dozen and have enough for my house.

me,

We live in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. We are selling our eggs for $2.00 per dozen, we are thinking on raising the price to $2.50. We want to send out a letter to our customers stating why we need to raise our price. We need to add onto our chicken coop and the feed price keeps going up. Any idea's how we should write the letter. Thanks!

I would assume spring-time. I noticed all my ducks have stopped laying and have stopped breeding so I am not concerned since it is winter.

To what extent do you need to go to call your eggs "organic"? I mix my own feed and they free range at least part of the day. The ingredients in my feed are probably not grown organically. They get a blend of ground corn, soybean meal, wheat mids, fish meal, and an electrolyte in their water. Hardshell and alfalfa cubes free choice. I sell my eggs for $2.50/doz. I do not call my eggs organic, but I do say "all-natural." My chicks are not started on a medicated starter mash.

Laying pellets are far more important than anything they can find when free ranging . Grass , bugs , etc.

Nothing should substitute for their laying pellets ....
I am getting $2.50 a dozen for large eggs and $3.50 for jumbo .

i sell the ones i sort so that the cartons have only larges in them for $2 a dozen and the ones that contain medium and larges mixed for $1.50.

i am only clearing a buck or two a week. i could charge more but so many people are feeling the pinch these days - some have grandchildren living with them or one of the spouses is laid off. there is one couple that i know has mainly lived on the eggs we sell them while between unemployment checks -I tend to sort their eggs for more larges.
when I am paid in quarters and dimes how can i raise the prices on these people?

I sell my free range eggs for $4.00 a dozen. The local groceries get $4.00 a dozen for Cage Free, which are not free range. My 13 hens have access to layer pellets all day & come & go as they please on about 2 acres. We have an organic market that sells them for us on the weekend & they sell out consistently. Most of my neighbors that sell there have theirs in a run, not cage free. But we keep the price consistent at $4. Happy chickens lay better tasting eggs!
