how much do you charge for your eggs?

Everyone I know around here sells their eggs for $3-4 depending on where they live. Most of the business is to people up for the weekends on vacation. Since more than half of the homes in the area are second homes for city-dwellers.

One of my neighbors also sells at a weekly farmers market, and charges up to $5 a doz.

I plan to start selling at $3, but I don't expect to sell openly until next spring.

BTW: It would be really helpful if anyone posting prices told us where they are if they haven't listed a location in their profile.

This is quite a long thread. I read the first few pages and then the last few... please forgive me if this question has been asked and answered somewhere in the middle:

One of the posts in this thread stated the seller's price for fertilized vs. unfertilized eggs (though the price happened to be the same). My question, which will surely give away my noob status, is "other than the potential for future chicken, what's the difference"?

We get $1.00/doz here in Iowa.. folks can get a dozen eggs at the Quick Star convience store for .99 cents.. so I figure since mine are farm fresh, folks will pay a penny more ...

We get $3.00 a dozen here but that's i

n Boulder and CO Springs. My customers will buy allthat I can deliver. It helps with feed costs but does not pay the entire bill.
