How much do you pay for feed??

BTW, look at the label, it's not '3.whatever % calcium', it's a minimum of that %! So when it's a stated minimum, or maximum %, that's exactly what it means.
Could be more, or less, than the stated amount.

That's a very good point

Here the Feather Fixer is in 40 lb. bags, not 50 lb. And has too much calcium for birds not in lay, and 18% protein. Flock Raiser is in 50 lb. bags, lower calcium, and 20% protein.

I had them on flock raiser but don't like the crumble (very dusty)

Oh hmmm, I will check the calcium content to be sure. Do you think if it's 3% it will hurt him?
I raised a roo on layer feed before I knew any better. He lived to be almost 8 years old. I did not open him up when he passed away so I do not know if he had damaged kidneys but that's pretty old for a chicken. I no longer feed my roos this way to just be safe.

You could just mix the feather fixer with some all flock to lower the calcium until you use this one bag and then continue on all flock.

8 years is old for a chicken, maybe the Feather fixer will be ok

Mine has 20% but I would be fine if I found a cheaper (not just 1-2 dollars) feed with less protein (I like to stay at least 17%though)
I’m leery of lower protein feeds. I accidentally bought 16% and my girls were eating feathers.
