Chickens are so finicky sometimes. I take out wet mash and my flock goes nuts for it, although if it was all the time they’d probably get sick ofI hear you, mine are the same, I've stopped trying to get them to eat mash, I also tried to wet it, not a chance in h.ll were my chickens going to touch that stuffI only tossed away bagsful of the expensive stuff.

If they toss too much on the ground I let the feeder run out and make them clean up before I refill it.
That’s great! I think it depends on the birds. Mine will eat anything I put out for them for the most part, but there are exceptions. Strawberries for one thing.I've never found my chickens to be picky at all.

But then I'm hardline with both chickens and kids. I put good food in front of them and expect that if they're hungry they will eat.

That's so cheap. Layer feed is cheaper around here but my rooster......my rooster!!
What type of Purina?
Higher protein is most of what costs more.
Mine has 20% but I would be fine if I found a cheaper (not just 1-2 dollars) feed with less protein (I like to stay at least 17%though)

Some cases yes but some birds are picky. Mine refuse to eat lettuce which most chickens love. They also don't really like any vegetables.
