How much do you sell your eggs for?

$2 - $3 a dozen sounds reasonable to me but I can't see selling them for as low as $1.50...that's just too low considering all the time and feed.

$2.29/doz. $5.49/tray (30 eggs) for extra large (jumbo) brown eggs. ($3.99/doz. for duck eggs).

I went to the health food store, Wal-mart and the other local grocery store. I looked at free range eggs, brown eggs that are high in Omega Three...I based my price on those. I found that ranges from 3-5 bucks a dozen. So I settled on 4 and I deliver. So people have not even winced at 4 buck...and I have gotten nothing but rave reviews...even from the small pullet eggs. One lady was all excited to have a few double yolkers. I guess it is all depends on your area and what people are willing to pay.

I'm feeding organic layer - I prefer it for eggs for our own consumption, if I get to the point of selling a surplus the additional cost of organic feed (twice the cost of regular) will get passed on in the price of eggs. I'm thinking $3 minimum - more when the eggs get larger.

Our prices: $3.60/dozen, $1.85/half dozen, or $0.35 each. I take 10 cents off the dozen or half dozen price if the person brings their own carton.

I put the eggs in a holding carton in the fridge in the order they are laid, front to back, and don't separate them by size.......the huge ones go right with the ones from the new layers. We run a waiting list, and I notify the person at the top of the list the day before we have their requested quantity of eggs; they have 12 hours to claim before I go to the next person on the list.

As for why we sell eggs individually: we have a couple of college students who rarely eat eggs, but love 'farm eggs', so we sell them 'by the each' so these kids can have delicious eggs too.

$3.00 a doz. It's less than most around here sell for... but I have steady customers. And the egg $ pays for all their food and most supplies.

When I announced I was going to sell eggs I told quite a few neighbors and relatives soon after I was given 2-3 big trash bags full of egg cartons I sold my eggs for $2.00 a dozen and $3.00 for 18.
