How much does it cost to raise a meat chicken?

Here in Florida the organic that can be found is Countryside. I love it. If you are near north florida there is a Co-op in Jax that get's together and buys it by the pallet.

what came first? the chicken or the egg.. Those Cx chicks, came from eggs-- and those eggs came from parental Cx birds.. Those parental Cx birds, were fed GMO grain and feeds-- which directly effects the Cx chicks you purchase.

It just goes to ask the question... how far back do these 'natural', 'organic', and 'home raised' people need to go?

I worked on an organic farm, while in college. On our land, we applied GMO fed hog manure, and GMO corn gluton feed= both as a direct N source. Now the question is- how is that possible...? the answer out inspector said it was ok...

I see no difference in this theory applying to organic chicken producers, who are buying their chicks, CX or any other kind. To the best of my knowledge, I have neve heard of an organic supplier of baby chicks, certified that is. The entire broiler industry is owned by about 3 corperations, so I doubt any of them will have a certified organic side. My question is, prior to those chicks hatching, there is no difference b/w how they and conventional birds are obtained..

This isn't aimed at you, personally... it's more question for the readers who are on here...

Fred's Hens :

Agree. My garden fields have not had any applications of herbicides or pesticides for 3 years. They are now organic. Gotta start somewhere, and this three year waiting period is all that can be done.

that is completely different than continually purchasing non organic baby chicks to be now considered organic...
