How much Electrolytes?

So. I have a sick bantam. I want to give her an electrolyte boost.

I've used this before but not on a bantam, I wondered how much you'd give any chicken (in their water). They packet reads:
'1 sachet per 200ml of water'- this is for humans. I've put 1 sachet to litre for a gang of LF hens before.

Soo..... how much?

Chickens don't handle salt as well as humans. It's best to make up a solution of your own that's more suitable for chickens. Duration is also important. For a chicken that is sick, injured or in shock, I give the electrolyte solution once an hour for four to six hours a day for no longer than one week for any reason. Plain water should be made available also.

Here's the simple formula for chicken electrolytes:

1 gallon water


1 tablespoon sugar


1 tablespoon baking soda


1 teaspoon salt

3 3/4 liters water
15 ml sugar
15 ml baking soda
5 ml salt
