When my coop has around 30 birds a 50 pound bag of layer feed lasts one week, so just over 200 pounds a month. Mine also have access to free ranging which saves a few pounds in the warmer months.

Ditto on some of the other responses, quarter pound of feed per day per hen. 232.5 pounds per month. More than that and you are feeding rats, mice, squirrels, or wild birds.

Which hens, how big are they? Currently in lay, molting, or just not producing? Are they able to get goodies outside?

Those are all good points, but the 1/4# as mentioned is a good starting point as to what to expect.

never thought much about how much my birds eat in a day, but after doing the math i would say that 4oz per day is pretty close for my flock this time of year. I buy 80# every 4 weeks usually for 12 birds. It goes down a bit as the weather gets warmer.
