How much feed is required to grow a japanese quail to slaughter age? Up to 6 weeks, you are looking at over 1kg or 2.2lb of feed. Many people prefer to keep them til 8 weeks to ensure sufficient meat for a meal. That is an extra 350 grams of feed at least, if we assume they are eating 25 grams a day per bird. You are looking at around 1.5kg or 3.3lb of feed per bird if we include all the spills and wastage to grow to 8 weeks of age. Is this estimate correct, quail peeps? I have 41 birds at the moment. Looks like it will cost me 80kg or 167lbs of feed.

SOUNDS ACCURATE I EXPECT EATING INCREASES AS THEY GROW OLDER HAVE YOU CALCULATED THAT?ANYWAY I EXPECT SOMEONE ELSE WILL GIVE A MORE HELPFUL ANSWER I'VE NEVER HAD QUAIL SO:confused: YOU MUST HAVE MUCH MORE EXPERIENCE THAN ME HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD QUAIL? MAYBE YOU COULD TRY AN EXPERIMENT GIVING THEM RATIONS?

THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY I GUESS I'LL USE THE SAME KIND BUT I WON'T HAVE THAT MANY:) I THINK I'LL GET ABOUT 12 HOW MUCH WOULD THAT COST?I'M ESTIMATING 27 DAYS FOR ONE 20KG BAG?
Probably $25 in Australia for 20kg of game bird starter. Also, your maths is terrible. Based on Dani's estimates, you would use 15kg of feed a month. Too bad you don't live in my city, i would supply you with my 33% protein feed, custom from the mill.
