how much food

We have 7 chickens and a 50 lb bag has been lasting about 5 weeks. They free range only 2-3 hours a day, about 5 days a week, but get scraps/treats nearly every day. Now that it's colder I've been giving some scratch too. I haven't seen how long the feed lasts this time of year, I figure the colder, shorter days and the scratch might change things up a bit.

If they are dual purpose breeds and not Leghorns that's about right. 21 chickens *1/3lb./day =7 lbs. * 30 days = 210/month. 1/4 lb per day on average if they are light breeds like Leghorns.

My three hens go through 6.667 lbs of organic pellet feed each/month. Or ~20lbs /month for all three chickens.

I let them free range twice a week and give them a handful of scratch two to three times per week.

I give my hens as much as they will eat. ( I have four.) They are much happier when they have free ranged. (usually 3-4 hours a day.) I only need to put about a cup and a half out there a day. I also give them fresh greens, eggshells, the occasional warm oatmeal breakfast with dreid fruit and milk, and a couple small handfulls of scratch first thing and then right before they go to roost.
