How much for a dozen?

I charge $2.00 a doz for large to extra large & 1.00 for smaller eggs
That does not cover the feed & cartons but keeps the customers happy & I get free eggs. + a hobby that brings some $$$$ back in ain't all bad

Every egg I get goes in the incubator except the game egg that we eat. Then I sell the chicks at the flea market if I don't sell them all from home first. At $3 a chick counting losses, technically I'm getting somewhere between $20 an $30 a dozen for my eggs.

That pays the feed bill.

We charge $3.00 per dz. Dh made a large egg box and have a sign on a dry erase board. I did give out my cell phone # which is strictly use for farm business only. We have a mason jar in the box for the money. Made $9.00 in sales yesterday. Good Luck with your sells.

Thats what i think i will do. Thanks

First check out your state laws. Each state is different and each local market will determine the price you can get. In my state it is not legal to sell eggs from home without jumping through a lot of hoops that were really designed for big commercial places, while at the same time we have conflicting right to farm laws that negate the others.
In my market if you say your birds free range and eat grass and bugs people want to pay less because they think you are really getting them for free. Grrr...
Start by keeping track of your feed costs and egg production for a month to figure your cost, then add a bit for things like electricity and packaging. Find out if you have permit or licences you will have to pay for. If you are not in 100% compliance with the laws then be selective about your customers.
Good luck!

?? Guess I will have to play dumb cause I don't know anything about regulating the price of eggs! Do you have the links?
Also, we are holding on tight to a copy of the "Right to Farm" laws. Do you have any practical experience with them? When I called I was told "No Worries" by the sec answering the phone. This really does'nt reassure me. Esp when the new ag agent said she was not familiar with them!!!!
