How much Grit do chickens usually need?

I have 12 various chickens in my group and I am absolutely amazed an how much crushed granite they are going through. I put it in a container in their yard and it goes really fast. It also is amazing me because my feed store only sells it in small bags and it is expensize…

Most feed stores will order you a 50lb sack of grit and the cost is little more than the cost of one of those tiny sacks of grit. I have even seen 50# sacks priced for LESS than a 5lb one.

The same applies for oyster shell.
