how much is shipping for hatching eggs?

i think the medium flat rate boxes would be best and its 9.85 for the shipping im setting up my website so i can get this going i really dont trust ebay but i like it lol and they are free to get started right i dont have to pay anything for them the first go round?

I don't think you could wrap that many standard size eggs and then pack them with enough padding in a flat rate box. Even the biggest one. I've tried it and I have not been able to add enough bubble wrap, then packing peanuts, to fit 14 eggs in a flat rate box, let alone 18.

If you are going to pack them well, you need to use a large priority box. I charge $13 to ship a dozen + extras (usually 14 or 15 eggs) unless the eggs I send go to any of the west coast states. Then I have the buyer add an extra $5 for shipping costs. That covers shipping, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts.

One of the best things to do is get a postal scale. that way you can quote shipping on any amount of eggs. We use one like this.

Works great and very accurate, you can get free shipping boxes from ebay and the USPS. You can print the shipping lables at home and just drop the box at your PO. We ship a dozen+ eggs in a #7 box and half dozen in the medium flat rate.

Pack them the best you can, broken eggs make for unhappy buyers.

I've been averaging out to around $12 a box. I usually charge 10-12. I sent a pkg of 2 dozen eggs out yesterday and it cost $16.37 (not including time and supplies used to pack). Between weight and distance, it all depends. I personally don't care for the flat rate boxes, as I don't think the size works well for shipping/packing eggs.
