Aloha,
I am feeding my 6 hens fresh sprouts; greens; fruit and vegetables twice a day, along with their layers pellets. How much fresh greens and veggies is too much per day? I hang fresh greens from the fence for them to jump up and grab, to keep them busy during the day, also.
I really enjoy growing the sprouts and supplying the greens, since they are kept in a run (size is about 20'X15'), rather than free-ranging them. I have feral cats and mongoose to worry about with them.
I don't want to over do it. They get 2 cups of layers pellets and about 5 cups of fresh split into 2 meals per day.
Since they first started laying they have been giving me 5-6 eggs per day, and the shells seem to be healthy, along with the eggs themselves.
Mahalo for any information you can give to me.
