How much light to provide as days get shorter?

I got a solar shed light from Amazon, and am using it on the coop now. It says it should have 10 hours of light from a full charge, which it will not get here in the winter, LOL. It's worked great as a "go to bed now, chickens" light all summer. I turn it on at dusk then turn it off before I go to bed. I'm going to try it this winter and see how it works. Not sure if it will have enough light every day.

But I will have to run a drop cord out there eventually, because it is freaking cold here in the winter. I'll need a heat source for the coop. Already have the heater for the water font.

It was my understanding that it was better to add light in the morning so that it comes on about 12 hours before sunSET. Then the timer turns it off at sunRISE. Then they go to bed as it starts getting dark naturally and don't get caught milling around when the light goes off and leaves them in the dark. I'll see if they are too noisy in the morning and wake me up!
