How Much Light?

I have a chick that is about 20 days old that I keep under artificial light in my garage for 24 hours everyday. Is 24 hours of light to much? If so, how many hours of light should it have?

Chicks are kept under lights for heat, not light. You can keep a chick in the dark overnight, so long as it's warm enough. Chicks need supplemented heat until they are fully feathered, which is usually at around 6 weeks of age. Have you only got one chick? Chickens are social creatures and they are happier in pairs or trios at a minimum.
