How much on averege is shiping for 3 chicks from Meyer Hatchery ?

Okay, so hearing that MPC and Meyers are essentially the same, and not being happy with the three new easter eggers that came with my last order (not only are they borring chestnut brown, they are skittish, and worst of all, charging my four pound dog, and I will NOT stand for anyone bullying him. MPC opened up ordering today, so I experimented. I chose ten EE chicks (which are about a dollar more per chick than the ones from Meyers, plus an additional dollar per chick for vaccination), and it came out to be $45 without the $35 they charge for shipping. Meyer's price was $37 for ten vaccinated chicks. Well, Meyers has an earlier ship date available than MPC, but they require a minumum order of 15 for the earlier ship date.

For MPC, uping the number to 15 vaccinated chicks increased the price to $67.50 before shipping charges. With shipping, it comes up to $102 for 15 chicks?!! Meyers charges $20 to ship 15 chicks, plus they have an earlier ship date. My total order came to $62.46 for 15 vaccinated female chicks. SO, Meyers DOES have different shipping charges than MPC.

One sure way the OP could find out is to go ahead and place the order...I think you can see the shipping charges before you finalize the order.

You have to give the EE's time to grow up. Mine was the same but she's tuned into one of the most personable chickens you could want. She's not afraid of me, has more trust than the others and just fits in the pecking order fine. And the big plus, what an fine egg she dispenses.

As for the dog, better keep that thing inside and away from the world. What a terrible life it's gonna have. Hope you don't have cats. That dog is really in for a bad life. And to met up with a coon, mercy, I bet that thing will pee on itself.

My dog is very happy with his life, thank you very much (sometimes I am jealous!

). His best friends are a cat and a dane x anatolian shepherd named Grizz

and he loves being outside and playing just like any other dog (though he hated camping!

).

Unfortunately, my juvie chicks are eye level to him, and being charged at eye level by a pointy beak would be frightening for most dogs I would think. I need that behavior to stop before they get bigger and try the same thing with my young cousins and neighbors that frequently come over. I have never had such little ones charge man or beast!

I have had several EEs over the years, and infact, one of my very favorite birds was an EE named Waffle. These ones just aren't as personable (and though less important, not as pretty) as the others I have had. I totally agree that they need time to mature though! Waffle was a total downer when she was younger, but she turned into the sweetest most cuddly, commanding chicken anywhere!

I wonder if over time the way they bred for EE's and what's used to do so has changed and caused this attitude? Just like the RIR is not a RIR but a Production Red. Not the same chicken. I wonder.

That's a very good point...I certainly hope not!

That means I will start having to try to make my own! And I live in suburbia...we are allowed roosters, but I would hate to upset my neighbors
