I got a plan to rebuild my coop and post pictures, for now they are outside eating bugs during the day. I'm glad I got all this good advice from yall. I thought all a chicken needed was a 12" sq ft and I had 5 sq ft and thought I was g2g. They just look so happy in their, they even lay eggs in my bucket nest. they go "bockbockbockbockbock" and then lay an egg. oh but my cat doesnt like them, will a cat kill a big chicken? I hope not.

My cats are good with all my chooks, even the OEGBs, and all except one are good with the pigeons

I'm not upset with anyone, and I appreciate the advice. I just think we should consider "alternative facts". The debeaking is an idea I haven't thought of yet, how is that done? can they still peck around and eat bugs after that procedure?

Perhaps if you cannot properly provide an environment for them, you should not have them? And stick to store-bought eggs and meat.

Most cats won't mess with chickens. I used to have one that slept up on the perches with them. Started as a kitten and never stopped.

If its anything like my cats, it's mostly just play.
One of my cats, Pumpkin, chases all the birds but has never hurt them

Even those of us that think of our chickens as just farm animals provide them with the proper housing and care they need. Yes, they are just chickens. But they provide you with eggs and possibly meat. They deserve better conditions than you are providing
