How much room for 21 chickens?

I have 1 rooster and 20 hens. Do they have enough room? The coop is 8 x 10 and the attached run is 8 x 22.

That is pretty close to enough room. The standards seem to be 4 sqf in the coup, and 10 sqf in the yard. The bigger problem you may have is if you want that rooster to service all them hens. That is to much work for him, and your fertility rate may suffer.

Your coop has 80 square feet of space, and your run has a little over 17 square feet of space.

8x10= 80 square feet

If you want to stick to the standard 4 square feet per chicken.

80 divided by 4 equals 20

So you're 8x10 coop is good for 20 chickens.
So you are pretty right on, I wouldn't add anymore chickens though.

For the tune

8x22= 176 square feet

If you want to stick to the normal standard 10 square feet of space per bird.

176 divided by 10 = 17.6

So you run is good for 17 chickens.

It's a little tights, and smaller then I would like for my own person birds but it should work, as long as you don't add anymore chickens.

If you are planning on breeding you may want to trade some of the hens for roosters, to increase your fertility rate.

For breeding purposes, you would need only one more rooster to ensure fertility. The sizes sound good!

Since you already have the chickens, it seems to me the most sensible answer would be "if they are getting along well, then you have enough space; if undesirable behaviors start up, then maybe you don't"

I would agree that you are in a plausible range but should probably not be adding more chickens unless you like living dangerously.
