I just got some new chooks and we are going to keep the 2 Pekin Bantams seperate from the larger breeds and I was wondering, when they are at full age and size how much room in square metres should they each have?

Welcome to BYC and congrats on your new chooks!

The general rule for a backyard flock is 4 square feet p/bird in the coop and 10 p/bird in a run (sorry, don't know how to convert these measurements to meters).

There's a very good article in the Learning Center you may want to check out:

Hope that helps. Glad to have you join us!

The 4' -10' applies to large fowl, you can down size a bit if needed but if you have the room a little extra never hurts.

I Google it and the minimum recommended is 0.5 metres squared for a Bantam and 0.75 for a large fowl.

Keep in mind that if you need to keep them indoors for extended periods of time, a bit of extra space would come in handy. If you can make it a bit bigger, it's better.
