How much should I pay for silkie chicks?

It does depend on where you live. I can get a silkie chick for $4 around where I live.

I would have to say that they're too expensive for where you are getting them. CL is where you find people who bought chicks at a hatchery, bred them when they reached adulthood, and nowoffer them for sale. No quality control, no disease-free guarentee, no breeding plan. It's a better bet just to pay for hatchery stock outright for a cheaper price.

However, if you research this individual, and find that they are a legitimate breeder and show their silkies, then that price is a steal!

That's a great price for healthy live chickies you could pay less not much from a hatchery but you never know what shape they will be in when you get them.

Are you looking for just for pets? Try finding a breeder in your area.
I sell of any day-old culls for cheap. Missing a toe, extra toe nail, single comb, etc.

usually they are around 3-4 dollars each here

I paid $5 a chick for 3wk old chicks and they were a mix of buff/partridge and black w/partridge necks. We then paid over $6 a chick for 8wk old chicks that were solid white. But I'm in Ontario, so doesn't really help, I've seen silkie chicks go for as much as $10 a chick, not necessarily show quality either.
