how much space per chicken

I got official word from my city zoning board today, telling me that I can keep chickens as long as I don't sell the eggs, and that keep them in good health, with all the things a happy chicken needs.

In fact they said that the keeping of "domesticated animals" is not prohibited. So I asked them if I could keep a goat too. It would be nice to keep the grass short and to have milk! :)

thats funny when I contacted our city they just kept repeating "chickens are agricultural, and you can't have agriculture in residential zoning" of course when I pointed out to her that gardens of vegetables are agricultural and were they going to disallow those too? she responded by rolling her eyes and saying do whatever you want.

the thing is we are so far out of town that its pretty irrelevant

well , I have 29 - 5 to 6 weeks old Chicks . Hubby is fixing to build a COMBO COOP and run .

Coop will be inside the deminsions of the 10x20 , BUT coop will be 6x6x10 , and elevated OFF the ground . SO girls will have FULL run of the area . NO ROOSTERS .

10x20 big enough ?

Whatcha mean you can not sell the eggs ? WHY NOT ? Do you have to have a license to sell the eggs ? SURE is funny they have alot worse going on that people get away with and DO NOT EVEN REPORT OR PAY TAXES . Such as cleaning houses for a living , baby sitting and ironing in the home. BUT MAN , you sell EGGS and you'd have to have permission or a license ? GIVE ME A BREAK .
