How much to dose? Wazine 17 for worms

Wazine acts like a flush and if there's a heavy load of large roundworms, a blockage can occur causing toxic dead worm overload. Then there's a good chance the chicken will get sick and die. Valbazen or SafeGuard slowly kills worms over several days eliminating the possibility of blockage and toxicity.

Excellent info Wally, thank you very much. I went ahead and wormed them with wazine 17 today but now I wish I had waited til I read this. When I worm again in 10 days can I use the Valbazen or Safeguard since I used Wazine this time? I have to see which 1 of those 2 wormers my local TSC carries. I saw Safeguard paste wormer for horses when I was there yesterday but I didn't see any liquid Safeguard for goats, I think I'd prefer to try the liquid if I can. Thanks for the suggestions.

I dont think that TSC carries Valbazen but they do have SafeGuard for goats. I like the liquid but the paste works fine. Yes, I thinlk it would be a good idea to give them another round when they recover from the Wazine in 10 days. Wazine only kills roundworms.

I highly recommend dosing your birds individually with an oral syringe.

I do NOT recommend mixing Valbazen or SafeGuard with water.

The tube of paste won't treat very many birds, and it has to be given five days in a row to be as effective as Valbazen.

Sorry, I didn't get back on here yesterday. Thank you all for the info, I think I will order the 60ml bottle of Valbazen. I have 9 days before I have to worm them again, hopefully the PO can get it to me by then. I'm not a fan of the PO after my last batch of shipped eggs (I won't go off on that rant :/ lol) and a thermometer hygrometer combo that took almost 2 weeks to get to me from 2 states away.

Don't worry about the time it takes, just use it when you get it and use it again in ten days.

K, I'm back yall, lol. I ended up getting the Safe Guard liquid goat wormer. When I give it to them by mouth, what's the best spot to do it, I don't want them to aspirate the wormer. And I'm trying to figure out a round about dose to give them. I don't know the exact weight of my birds. I have some adult silkies and some silkies that are about 5 months old and I have some adult Nankin bantams that I would assume are around 2-3 pounds and I have some 5 month old Welsummers that are probably around 4-5 pounds. I also have 2 younger Welsummers that are around 2 months old, can I give it to them also or are they still too young?

Okay to guess on weight... I give mine ~0.23ml per pound for five days if i want to treat for capillary worms. For just round worms and cecal worms I give once and repeat in ten days. Two months old are okay to worm. How long have they been on out of the brooder and on dirt?

They are still in the brooder, I'm putting them out today. It took my husband forever to get the fencing I needed to make their run.
