Hello all, I have 3 ducks, 2 White Pekins, and 1 Blue Swedish they were very skinny, and I had them on a 9 ounce a day diet, this has been going for 2 weeks, and I am sure they are ready to start getting less food. How much in average do these breeds need to eat everyday? I can only feed once a day, thanks!

If you use the same feeder for all 3 ducks, then fill it with 1.5 lbs of feed per day. If you use separate feeders, fill each with 8 oz of feed per day. Do you feed them all 9 oz of feed or 9 oz of feed each? If they're very skinny I'd assume you mean 9 oz of feed for all of them per day, which is definitely not enough.

Hm, maybe you should try taking your ducks out to forage a few times per day. They're excellent foragers and can make up 50% of their diet through foraging.

Our ducks and chickens all have free access to feed as well and free range. The ducks only eat overnight and never seem to return to the coop for food during the day, but eat a lot of duck weed on the pond and I am sure frogs and bugs. I don't even attempt to measure out food because it's impossible to know what they've foraged day to day. They all seem to be pretty good at limiting themselves, though.

My ducks are looking a lot better, I have not tried to catch them. They are still getting 9 ounces a day. When I said they are skinny, it was when I got them. They lost a bit of weight when I first owned them, but now are happy fat butterballs! Just for your information, my ducks think they're pigs! I cannot free choice feed them, it is just too expensive.
