How much to feed?

If you switch from Dumor to almost any other feed, you will clean the coop much less often, and it will smell better too.

There is a thread on here somewhere (a long one) discussing Dumor feed. As a result I switched to Bartletts 20 %. My egg production went up, the poo went down, and the Arks smell a whole lot better, and my feed bill went up only slightly.

Do a search for Dumor. You'll be surprised.

Dumor was the only feed available to me at the time I started. I have been getting around 20 eggs a day from 23 pullets all winter long with 10 hour days and no artificial light. I am not sure that I could expect to do much better no matter how much I spent for feed or extra lights. My girls get raw greens as much as I can provide them as supplements. TSC now carries Layena also for around a dollar more a bag so I can try it. What I really want is to buy a ton bulk and store it in drums. I will do a day trip if needed to accomplish that. I have not yet found a feed mill that makes chicken feed in Tennessee. There is bound to be one, but when I did an internet search, all I got were feed DEALERS, and not feed mills.
