How much to sell processed DP chicken?

I sold them for $2.75/lb. One bird was $11.00, the other was $8.25. To tell you the truth, I was really surprised!

These people had contacted me earlier and wanted to know if I sold chickens. I at that time, I was processing for the family only and only my cockerells and roos. We processed these birds on Monday and they have been in a salt brine since them. As I was cutting them up to put in the freezer, I thought I'd call these people and let them know the price. I really didn't think they'd buy. I offered cleaned weight, with or without gizzard/heart and cut up or whole. I also told them that I hadn't tried one yet, so can't promise the flavor. (I canned all of last years cockerells.) they told me what they wanted and I delivered later that day.

Today, I fried 2 for our supper. I thought that was a true test. It was wonderful. Our 85yo dairy farmer/chicken, turkey mentor, friend came over for supper. She had 3 pieces! That told me the chicken was worth the 2.75/lb.

If people want them for that price, fine. I'll sell them a tasty bird. If not, fine too. We'll eat a tasty bird. This has all been a learning experience and I've enjoyed the ride.
