I think one can assume that they will drink 3/4 ounce to 3 ounces per pound of body weight per day.

Ok, I should add that it is a hanging waterer with nipples so I don't have to worry about it getting dirty.Your birds should consume twice the water than feed at least. For your size flock it may last 6 days but spillage and rinsing to keep clean may waste it sooner. Extreme dryness or heat and they may consume more. Mine is smaller 1 gallon for 4 birds and last me 2-3 days sometimes 4. Spillage and rinsing bottom fountain to clean wastes more.
it varies by the coop. The one has about 10 right now and that’s the one with the 5gal waterer. My bantam coop has more birds but they go through 2 gallons a day.
No, but that’s what I go through in the summer. I had about 20 birds in there then.Any chance you have a leak? I have 16 hens (mixed flock) and they have a single 5 gallon waterer. It typically last 5-7 days. I can't imagine 10 chickens are drinking 5 gallons a day. That's almost 4 pounds of water a day per bird........
Can you show us a picture of that? Maybe from Amazon or something?I've cheated, got one of those doggie water bowls that are auto fill, short of losing power, (we're water haul, need power for the pump) they always have water.. clean the bowl of dirt and sand and they are set.
Most likely something like this.....Can you show us a picture of that? Maybe from Amazon or something?
That is exactly what it is, I have one for my dogs, and two in the chicken coop, that way for them there is more than one place to get water, 3 dogs and I think that my sex-links are bigger than they are. Most likely something like this.....
