Mine have a very large, tall hanging feeder so about every week and a half. Makes it so easy!

But sometimes I feed them from those long feeders when they free range.

I go through a 50 lb bag of feed about every month, though with many new additions coming I expect that to change soon. Sigh.

We are in an area you can't leave feed out all the time because of the wild freeloaders. Mine are penned at night but free range during the day. I feed before I go to school and then an hour before roosting. She feeds once about 5pm but hers are in a large pen. I didn't think about those that have feeders out all of the time since I can't do that.

My birds have access to food 24/7... We check their feed twice a day.. morning and night.

I don't know how to answer this question. I have feeders out for my birds. They can eat anytime they want. They also free range. I just fill the feeders when they get low.

What I do do iiiiiissssssssss....... I put out scratch for them at dinner time. That is the only time I give them scratch with BOSS. Once in a while I will get some lettuce, or other veggie or fruit to give them during the day. It breaks up the day for them since birds do get bored. Besides, no a whole lot of bugs out this time of year.

So, that is why I am not sure how to answer your question. You don't have a section for 24 access to food. Snacks can be at anytime around here.

My birds have feeders available 24/7. They have access to an outside run during the day, and a couple hours of free ranging in the evening. I give them kitchen scraps in the morning and a bit of scratch about an hour before roosting. I figure if they're going to gorge themselves on kitchen scraps, I would rather have the "aftermath" while they are outside. Less time spent cleaning the coop is my plan. If I don't have kitchen scraps in the morning I toss them some scratch or a handful of BOSS. How much per chicken do you feed if you only have food available once or twice per day?

I have a bin feeder in the coop that holds 300# of feed so they have access 24/7. With my wife being home all day now we free range from aprox 10am-dark nearly every day.

We have a big feeder that is out 24/7 also. We top it off every day but it never is empty unless we had terrible weather and couldn't get out til the second day. (our roo will never let his ladies go without food. if it gets low he hollars until you fill it!) We do take treats out to them at different times of the day. They LOVE grapefruit! Go crazy over it. I have also started getting them some chicken cubes from the pet store. it's a big cube of bird seeds that they can peck at during the day.

I feed mine once a day in midday too. I don't think there's any wrong way to do it, but just remember that whatever they don't eat is left on the ground/in the feeders. I had a huge problem with rats last year, so I try to make sure they eat it all before bedtime

I have feeders that are full spring/summer/fall 24/7. In the winter, I feed at night so they are full before bedtime.
For my ducks, I may need to bring out food morning and night, they manage to freeze some of the food as they drip water in the food bowl during the day.
Can't wait for spring!
