How often do you Wash yourself?

It's a fun thread...let's all sit and imagine, just for a moment, back in the day when people got a real bath once a week whether they needed it or not.

I think I just heard a collective EW resound from every corner of BYC.

I know I am a little OCD. But it hasn't interfered with my life, and I have bigger problems to worry about, so I just deal with it. Once I was in therapy (for unrelated Depression), and my therapist had me take an OCD determining "quiz". It came out that I am "mildly OCD". But the thing that's always stuck with me, is that one of the questions was "If you have something sticky on your hands, do you feel the need to wash it off immediately". Well, of course I answered yes. I then proceeded to ARGUE with my counselor at how absurd that question was. I said "WHO DOESN'T want to wash something sticky off their hands immediately!?!?!" Later, I called my aunt, who's also one of my closest friends, and was ranting about it. I said the same thing to her "Come on! Who doesn't want to wash something sticky off their hands right away?!?!" She said, "Well, I don't". THAT really made me crazy, so I started arguing with her. I said, "So you're sitting at the table, eating breakfast, and you get jelly from the toast between your fingers, and it feels all sticky. You mean to tell me that you sit there and finish eating breakfast instead of getting up to wash it off?????" And she said, "Yeah, I'd finish eating". So apparently I am CRAZY, but I cannot imagine leaving something sticky on my hands. It just seems ridiculous.

No No No, God has a special place for us in heaven, a wonderful decontaminated place. I am a germaphobe I like bleach and I like the smell of lysol and I like the way my closet looks with all it's litte labels!, how my shoes are on on their rack!, and how my ties hang at exactly the same length! on their hanger! there is NOTHING wrong with that. There I said it lol

Sure, fine, but you wouldn't just leave it there, right!?!

Truth is it's like a phobia...I can touch MY stuff and be okay.
If I touch YOUR stuff, I feel dirty, need to wash.

Same thing about people...if you touch me, I need to wash really
soon. And don't wait on me to touch you. Don't even like touching
things when I'm shopping.

Some things are almost funny...some things are so much "mine" that
even my wife and daughter can't bother them.

I have own plates, glasses, silverware...my own towels. Even my own
tv remote. And don't sit in my chair.

It really isn't funny....I can't stand to go to the barber, denist or anywhere
people get to touch me.

So yeah...I wash my hands alot.

In MY bathroom, with MY soap and dry them with MY towels. And if you touch
them, I need new ones.

Spookwriter, are you acquainted with the character Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory? That looks like a post he would write!

I'm not a fan of touching other people or them touching me, either. Animals, yep, all day long, but unless you're my DH or my kids, I really don't feel the need to even shake your hand much less *shudder* HUG you, thank you very much. And for me that has nothing to do with germs or cleanliness.

Laurajean, I would not just leave something sticky on my hands, no!

Which brings me to my pet peeve. Little kids with sticky faces! YUCK! My kids were constantly being washed, no sticky faces for me.
