I agree. Chicks need food and water 24/7

If I keep the feeder 24/7 in the coop they will poop into the feed and there will be lot of wastage and cleaning problems.

I have used those before and they are definitely not my favorite. If you could buy or build something like this, it is simple and awesome. They don't waste a thing and their food stays dry. Maybe you could make a smaller version since you chicks are not adult size.

What's that type called? It seems like a good solution if it is available in smaller sizes.
