How old are chickens when they stop laying eggs?

I have a 2 year old hen that stopped laying eggs. She is a golden comet. She was a Broody hen. All my other hens were killed by animals a month ago. She is still not laying eggs. Will she ever start laying again?

When egg laying stops depends on the breed and how they are cared for. With many, egg production begins to decrease with their second year. Hens that go broody will lay longer because they periodically stop laying while brooding. My oldest hen is eight and she still lays every other day or every third day. But here again, after 10-14 eggs she goes broody for weeks at a time. Most likely your golden comet will begin laying again. Hens will stop laying when sick, stressed, or molting.
