Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain, I ckecked out your BYC page and it was very interesting. I remember my Dad doing the same thing when we were young to get the feathers off.
We 'threw out' our Sex-Sal-Links out to the insulated coop here in Ottawa, Canada (think ~25-30F and below) at 6 weeks. They had a heat lamp on for 2 days to minimize the shock.
It took them about 2 days to venture outside, now they forage in the snow.
