How old do RIRs generally have to be before laying an egg?

I have two RIRs, one about four months and one about five months. How old do they have to be before they start laying? My Roo is a Lavender Ameraucana. Also how long does it take a fertile egg to hatch? Sorry about the newbie questions but this is my first time owning a Roo or pullets. I've only had a hen that was already laying.

Rhode Island Reds usually start laying between 5-7 months. So, your five month old is probably getting close!

If incubated, it takes a fertile egg about 21 days to hatch. Some eggs (especially those of small bantams) may hatch a day or so earlier.

Another question I have, if you don't mind me asking, is how large RIRs get. I had one when I was a little girl and she was huge, but my pullets are still very small. About a little under half of the size of my Lavender Ameraucana Roo.

If your Rhode Island Reds are hatchery Rhode Island Reds, they will probably end up weighing about five to six pounds.
