how old do you think it is?

One of the chicken eggs died and i decided to see what was in it....


the chick had down on its entire body had claws and the yolk was maybe 1/2 absorbed.... how old do you think it was when it died?

I had one like that. I would say around 18 days, maybe a little less.

Absorbing the yolk is one of the last things they chicks do before they hatch. In fact, many of them will pip before they've finished absorbing the yolk. If the yolk was 1/2 absorbed it was almost ready to hatch. Had it pipped into the air cell? I'd say 19 - 20 days.
