I have two babies ducks I think that they are about 1 week old. how soon can I put them in a small area for a little swim

You can let them swim now.. Just make sure the water is warm and not too deep. Only let them swim for a few minutes and make sure they have somewhere warm to dry off afterwards.

Go for it, they will love it. Throw some alfalfa spouts in the water and watch the fun.

I filled an oblong tupperware dish with warm water and stuck it in the tub for my 3 day old babies to swim around in...they looked like little scuba-divers zipping around in circles!

At a week old, I put my runners in a tub of warm (90 F) water up to their little bellies, then back into the clean, dry, warm brooder. The first few times a few of them just stood there while the others preened themselves dry, so I picked the former up and wrapped them for a half a minute in a dry washcloth. They finally got the idea.

And it is so fascinating to watch them dive and shoot through the water!
