How old is my roo?

I was wondering if anyone had an estimate of how old they think this rooster is. This June he will have been with me a year. He's an amazing rooster to my girls and chicks. I was wondering how old he might be an also give me an estimate of how many "young" years he's got left

his spurs don't look huge, so I would guess age 3 or less.

Pretty hard to tell with chickens.

Unfortunately there is no way to judge age but history... i did have a hen that we didn't know. We suspected she was under a year when we first got her as she didn't molt the first year and miffed for us the first time much later the second year then she we got her the prior. But she was full grown and laying when we got her. That was our best guess, we shall never know.

If your rooster molted last winter he is at least over 18months. If he did not molt last winter he is probably under 18 months old... but unfortunately all my research on the subject that's the best I can do

Didn't even think about the spurs... don't know how fast or slow those grow yet

unfortunately it is variable.

But, it is unlikely for a young bird to have huge ones.

Thanks k you everyone. He's my absolute favorite rooster and unfortunately he didn't have a previous owner that took care of him, so I had no one to ask. He came to me last year from a neighbors house and became the best rooster. Although he was grown he got used to me in this short time frame and is name trained and becoming to where I can pet him. I remember seeing him at the neighbors house last year but not before that so I would suspect he's about 2 or 3 years old. How many good years does a rooster get on average?

This is when he first come to me. He had been here about a week or 2. I can see thru pictures how he has aged and matured.

I’m guessing between two years and four years.
