I've heard of chickens living to be 15 years old. I was wondering if barred rocks live that long. My BR is 6 1/2 years now and sometimes I think she may be getting old. She still lays eggs, but not for the past few weeks, which is normal, she always stops in the winter, (oops its still fall). Years ago I had to treat her for leg mites and her legs are still ugly and grow crusty stuff that I put mineral oil on and can pick that stuff off. Sometimes it makes her legs bleed a little. Her toe nails get really long and I have to cut them. I think her legs hurt from that crusty stuff, she likes to sit a lot, but will get up and run from me. I can also pick her up, she's very friendly, but doesn't always want to be held. She still jumps up on the high roost and eats and drinks and runs around the yard with the other girls, but it just seems she's getting old now. My EE is also 6 1/2 years but not acting old like the BR.
So just curious, what the oldest BR is.
