How old should the chicks be before they can go outside?

I don't have any full grown hens, just the ones I just got at about 8 weeks. Just wanna know if they will be okay tonight?

The girls will go out in a separate area from the older birds, so we will all be happy!

Now, I've got to do something with some roos to keep them from pulling feathers out of my laying hens. The submissive hens are left laying out in the yard to recover from being "assaulted". Can I keep them in cages in the barn? I've got 11 hens and two large cochin roos. The roos are friendly, so I hate to kill them and they are considered pets, but I get angry when I look at what they do to the hens.

I guess it's always "something" when you've got chicken kids!
