If I saw a lone Coyote, I would think a young male had been run out of the pack OR it could have rabies! (Especially, if they are peering in my windows)

Be aware! A bat or a stick is NOT a good weapon against ANY "Wild" predator. (Dogs OK; NOT Coyotes, Possums, Racoons, etc)

A gun, a trap or crossbow would be my choices depending on where I live OR if I want the "predator" dead or not. Most county animal control departments will come out and set up traps for you as well.

BTW; I was hired by state wildlife authorities and regional cattle owners to cull a problem Coyote population in the late 70's and early 80's so I know what kind of problems Coyotes can cause.

This morning I seen 3 big ol coons that my dog chased across the street.. Well after I locked the chickens up in their coop I took 1 1/2 in screws and screwed the door,window,and pop door shut...
 
I wouldn't really say coyotes are afraid of people, I think it is more like they are careful around people. I do know they will go after kids, it has happened around here. Adults probably not, but it also depends on how hungry they are. The other day my son grabbed the bebe?spelling gun because a neighbor called and said they had seen a raccoon out during the day. I told him to put it away and stay away from there(he's only 11) what if it is rabid-a bebe gun is not going to do anything but make him attack you!

Ok, now I'm getting a little nervous! I think I will be getting a .22 instead of my kids baseball bat.
