How soon will chicks lay eggs?

Me and my neighbor share 22 hens. Back in June one of our chickens went broody. we gave her three chicks and she raised them beautifully. right now the hens are in molting season and so i am not sure who is laying. How soon will our new chicks lay?

It varies depending upon the breed. Some lay as early as 20 weeks, others not until as much as 8 months old.
