How "tall" to build raised coop?

What is the floor area?

Are you planning on "walking" inside?

How do you plan on cleaning inside?

Is this a "new coop build", "renovation", or "addition"?

While you can "go vertical" to gain more space ...if your coop is only 3'X3' ... it doesn't really make much sense to go 6'+ high, as there is no room for birds to go up or down to roost ...

Coop is 30" off the ground right now, Trying to figure on the side construction, was thinking 4-5ft tall making total height from ground to roof pitch about 96" (8ft)
I make them tall enough to slide a wheelbarrow under and tall enough not to be bent over much when I clean them out.
Also, making them tall enough for your largest chicken to stand underneath without banging its comb gives them a rain shelter.

Not sure I understand why you'd want it any higher up than needed so a snake can't climb up. Our floor is about 18" off the ground which means a snake would have to be about 50" long to get up. After it gets past our heelers. But if it were that big, it would be too thick to get thru the wire mesh I used on the floor.

I guess if you want to get under to do something, you'd need space. But can't you repair it from the top? And rake the poop out from underneath with only a foot to stick in a rake?

Ours is a trailer so we just move it when there's enough poop accumulated.
